Job Description

Gain expertise in rodent electrophysiology and behavior studying thalamic cellular and network mechanisms of sleep and memory consolidation.
We have several openings to study the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and cellular spike dynamics that contribute to episodic memory consolidation during sleep.
Trainees will gain expertise in systems neuroscience using electrophysiology (cell ensemble and LFP recording) and behavior in rats, as well as expertise on the thalamic molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying normal and disrupted sleep-dependent memory consolidation and the use of non-invasive technologies to regulate them.
Some of the projects are part of collaborations with Harvard University and the Scripps Florida Institute.

Requirements

  • PhD with experience in electrophysiology and rodent models
  • outstanding interpersonal skills and motivation to work in a collaborative environment. Experience with MATLAB (or other programming languages) preferred. Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide contact information for three references.
