About Science Communications World Wide e.V.

Our journey started with World Wide Neuro (WWN), an innovative online platform that took on newfound significance when the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted traditional avenues for scientific exchange. Faced with lockdowns and travel bans, neuroscientists embraced WWN as a critical tool to transcend the newfound isolation. The platform enabled researchers to share findings, maintain collaboration, and stay connected with the global scientific community at a time when in-person conferences and seminars were no longer possible.

As the WWN community grew, we expanded our vision beyond neuroscience, harnessing the power of the internet to disseminate scientific knowledge across various disciplines. This growth phase saw the expansion of WWN's offerings, facilitating global access to cutting-edge research and enriching the scientific dialogue.

Strategic partnerships with organizations such as FENS and COSYNE provided a springboard for our content and services, increasing our reach and influence in the scientific community.

With a vision for a more structured and impactful operation, WWN transformed into Science Communications World Wide, e.V. (SCW) in 2022 by incorporating as a non-profit organization. This strategic transition allowed us to promote open access to scientific knowledge and facilitate seamless knowledge flow.

A milestone in our history was the decision to join the DataCite Consortium, enabling the registration of DOIs for audiovisual scientific content, thus elevating the status of spoken and visual science.

Current Offerings and Impact

Today, SCW stands as a vibrant hub for online seminars, conference broadcasting, and innovative E-Poster sessions. We encapsulate the scientific career ecosystem by providing listings of job opportunities, contributing to the career growth of individuals in science.

In retrospect, the evolution of SCW encapsulates a journey of innovation, collaboration, and commitment to the core values of accessibility, community, and scientific progress. Our evolution from World Wide Neuro to Science Communications World Wide, e.V. mirrors our aspiration to enrich the global scientific conversation and forge a future where science is shared without barriers.
