This Faraday Discussion compares electrochemical devices on Earth and in space. Researchers examine how reduced gravity changes bubble dynamics, transport and efficiency; electrolyser designs that manage gas separation and withstand radiation and temperature extremes; battery interfaces, dendrites and durability; and fuel-cell catalysts, gas handling and closed-loop energy storage. Precirculated research papers support extended discussion among academic and industrial researchers and postgraduate students. The meeting is at Royal Society of Chemistry, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BA, on 2–4 November 2026. Times are GMT (Europe/London, UTC+0). Registration opens at 11:00 on 2 November, welcome at 12:45 and Michael Hecht’s introductory lecture at 13:00. Sessions start at 09:00 on 3 and 4 November; the meeting closes at 13:00 on 4 November. Participants include Detlef Lohse, Kerstin Eckert and closing lecturer Hitoshi Naito. The published programme may change. Public booking is open. Until 2 October, fees are GBP 445/545 for members/nonmembers and GBP 225/275 for student members/nonmembers, plus VAT. Standard fees are GBP 505/620 and GBP 275/325 respectively, plus VAT; registration closes 19 October. Abstract submission has closed.

The 79th annual meeting of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics brings together students, postdoctoral researchers, academics, and government and industry scientists to exchange advances across fluid dynamics. Its research programme spans more than 40 subject areas, including biological flows, drops, flow instability and vortex dynamics. Contributed and invited talks, prize lectures, minisymposia, focus sessions, technical and student posters, and DFD-Interact provide complementary formats for scientific discussion. The exhibition includes measurement and instrumentation technologies. Meeting chair S. Balachandar and co-chair Jason Butler lead the local organizing committee. The in-person meeting runs 22–24 November 2026 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Programme times are EST (America/New_York, UTC−5). On 22 November, registration opens at 07:00 and DFD-Interact begins at 08:00. Scientific sessions begin at 08:00 on 23 and 24 November; the final published session ends at 15:00 on 24 November. The schedule is preliminary and may change. Registration is made through the APS event portal and requires an APS account. Standard full-meeting fees include USD 850 for regular members, USD 410 for graduate students, USD 155 for undergraduates, and USD 1,125 for nonmembers. Abstract submission has closed; attendance remains available.

The conference connects classical soft-matter questions about deformation, flow and assembly with sensing, learning, adaptation and control. Complex fluids, liquid crystals, phase separation and soft-solid mechanics are considered alongside active and living matter in cells, tissues and organisms. Sessions examine exchanges with machine learning and hard condensed matter, biological design principles, and applications to sustainability and health. Research talks, posters and discussion bring together physics, chemistry, engineering and the life sciences. Attendance applications are reviewed and capacity may fill before the application deadline.
