Description

This collaborative industrial-research competition supports strategically important parts of the UK battery value chain, including battery-cell and pack manufacturing, high-performance cells, automated manufacturing, non-destructive testing, AI-supported design and simulation, supply-chain resilience and UK scale-up from laboratory to pilot or pre-commercial manufacture. Concept-development projects must request between £500,000 and £4 million, run for 12 to 36 months, start no earlier than 1 May 2027 and finish by 31 March 2031. The competition is open and closes on 2 December 2026 at 11:00am UK time.

Eligibility

A UK-registered business of any size must lead. The consortium must include at least one UK-registered micro, small or medium-sized enterprise claiming grant funding; academic institutions cannot lead. Funded work must be carried out mainly in the UK and the results exploited in the UK.
