A normally two-year postdoctoral appointment beginning in autumn 2027 supports original environmental research with faculty mentorship at Caltech. Fields include climate dynamics and adaptation, atmospheric chemistry, physical oceanography, glaciology, paleoclimate, biogeochemistry and environmental microbiology. The annual stipend is $80,000, with a $10,000 research-expense fund and up to $1,500 for travel to Pasadena. Continuation depends on first-year progress and completion of the doctorate. Applicants may also be considered for other relevant Caltech postdoctoral positions.
Requirements
PhD received no earlier than 1 January 2026, except exceptional cases. Submit CV/publications, separate statements of previous and proposed research under 750 words each, and three reference letters. All materials, including references, are due 6 November 2026. Identifying prospective faculty hosts is encouraged.
