Support for focused projects that strengthen the R ecosystem’s technical or social infrastructure through open-source software and tools. Proposals should benefit the wider R community, identify clear deliverables and milestones, and show preliminary work that reduces delivery risk. Narrow-user projects, highly exploratory research, hardware/cloud purchases and conference/workshop sponsorship are generally outside this call. Develop concepts, algorithms and open-source scientific software for quantum many-body systems at the Flatiron Institute’s Center for Computational Quantum Physics. Research connects condensed matter, materials, quantum emulators and theoretical chemistry. Fellows publish results, collaborate across institutions and contribute to student mentoring. The initial full-time appointment lasts two years, with a possible third year subject to performance, and normally starts between August and November 2027.
