Diverse neuronal responses to visual precision in cat cortical area 21a: Unraveling the complexity of orientation processing

Nelson Cortes, Lamyae Ikan, Hugo Ladret, Laurent Perrinet, Christian Casanova · FENS Forum 2024

Our research investigates the impact of visual stimuli precision on orientation processing in higher cortical areas. Specifically, we examined cortical area 21a in cats, often considered the equivalent of primate area V4 within the hierarchical organization of visual processing. 'MotionClouds' (MC), pseudo-natural stimuli, were used to explore orientation precision's effects on neuronal responses. MC precision is governed by four parameters: the orientation, the spatial frequency (SF), Bθ and Bsf. We analyzed responses from 411 neurons in area 21a, seeking patterns in orientation precision pro
