Engineering design is central to addressing global challenges: emerging technologies offer vast potential, but integrating them into real-world systems requires deliberate design choices that account for sustainability, resource limitations and societal impact, and new approaches are needed to connect design theory and application. Full papers are invited on design for impact, design for humanity, design creativity, systems design and engineering, design for advanced manufacturing, AI and agentic design, machine-learning and data-driven design, human-centred design, human behaviour and cognition, advanced collaborative design, design management and processes, design theory, methods and tools, design research and design education. The programme comprises plenary sessions, podium presentations, interactive discussion forums and keynotes from academic and industry speakers, together with the Design Society General Meeting, a Special Interest Group Day, a Young Members' event and an Industrial Day on sustainability-driven innovation. The conference takes place from 16 to 20 August 2027 at Hamburg University of Technology. Full papers are due on 7 December 2026, with notification of acceptance on 15 February 2027.
