The Society for Neuroscience annual meeting brings together the global neuroscience community for lectures, symposia, nanosymposia, posters, professional-development sessions and exhibits. The 2026 meeting offers in-person participation in Washington, D.C. and a virtual component with posters and livestreamed featured lectures.

This meeting examines how interactions among glial cells and neurons influence nervous-system development, function and disease. Genomic and functional studies address microglia, astrocytes and myelinating cells, including diversity within each class and their contributions to circuits, behaviour and neurodegeneration. Programme themes cover neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders, ageing, human glia, glia-focused technologies, and interactions with immune cells and other glia. Talks, posters and extended discussion support exchange among established researchers and trainees. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or an accepted equivalent. Admission is selective and capacity may be reached before the application deadline.

Neural crest cells and cranial placodes share developmental and evolutionary origins while producing diverse tissues and sensory structures. The conference examines their roles in vertebrate development, regeneration and disease, including congenital abnormalities, cancer and sensory dysfunction. Researchers will compare model organisms and experimental approaches, connecting genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic findings with cell behaviour and tissue formation. Discussion will focus on mechanisms of normal development and the origins of disorders when those processes fail. Attendance applications are reviewed and capacity may fill before the application deadline.

This EMBO Workshop integrates developmental biology, sensory neuroscience, central circuits, motor control, behavior, population genetics, genomics, and ecology to advance comparative insect neuroscience. Early-career researchers are prioritized for selected talks, and all accepted participants present their work.

The conference links molecular, cellular, circuit and systems mechanisms of cerebellar development, function and dysfunction across species and life stages. Imaging, experimental physiology and theoretical models will connect early developmental patterning with mature computation and behaviour. Sessions examine motor and cognitive functions, autism and ataxia, and the difficulties of translating findings between species or integrating evidence across scales. The aim is to distinguish conserved organizational principles from meaningful differences between experimental systems. Attendance applications are reviewed and capacity may fill before the application deadline.
