Job Description

CERN's ATLAS Group is recruiting an applied physicist to lead electronics integration for new resistive-plate-chamber detectors in the upgraded ATLAS muon spectrometer. The role covers front-end and low-voltage board validation, detector quality assurance, chamber integration, installation coordination and commissioning in the ATLAS cavern. It is a 54-month, fully on-site appointment in Geneva with an ideal start date of 1 January 2027. Applications close on 4 October 2026 at 23:59 Geneva time.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications and professional experience in detector electronics
  • gaseous particle-detection technologies
  • component testing and detector performance. The role requires eligibility under CERN Member or Associate Member State rules
  • a valid driving licence
  • work in radiation areas and underground installations
  • and occasional night
  • Sunday or holiday work. Applicants must not previously have held a CERN Staff contract.
