Job Description
Job Description:
Data scientist specializing in analysis of large, high-dimensional datasets and associated methods.
Apply techniques from statistics, machine learning, and computational biology to a variety of datatypes and datasets from across Arcadia's research organisms. Datasets might range from genomics, multi-omics, imaging, time course, mass spectrometry, and neural recordings.
Coordinate with experimentalists from experimental design all the way to publication.
Work with our publishing team to build interactive, sharable resources for the scientific community.
Our ideal candidate would have a history of contributions in analysis of complex datasets, a curiosity to work on a variety of problems and data types, and a passion for open science. They would be able to share their expertise both within and outside of Arcadia, and they would be able to translate difficult concepts into runnable, sharable analysis.
The Arcadia Story:
We are a research and development company leveraging the biology of emerging research organisms. We were founded by Seemay Chou and Prachee Avasthi, scientists convinced there is a better way to explore the full potential of science: how discoveries can be both meaningful and profitable. We are building a team of in-house scientists to carry out active research programs and convene a broader scientific community with a visiting scholars and internship program. Visit our website at www.arcadiascience.com to learn more about our work and check out Seemay’s founding story here.

Requirements
- Position: Full time in-person data science position in Berkeley
- California. Compensation will be between 150k-200k per year
- depending on experience level.
- Data Science @Arcadia
- Arcadia was founded on the idea that we can look beyond conventional model organisms by applying advanced experiments in new species. Modern laboratories generate massive datasets. Whether employing imaging
- omics
- mass spectrometry
- or structural techniques
- today's instruments can produce oceans of information
- and there have emerged enormous opportunities to apply the techniques of computer science and statistics to understand biology. At Arcadia
- our data scientists will foster deep
- collaborative relationships with our experimentalists
- driving innovation in both experimentation and analysis.
- Role: Arcadia’s experimentalists are applying advanced approaches across the life sciences. We seek a flexible data scientist who can exploit the commonalities across data types and extract deep results from complex datasets. In this role
- you will work directly with scientists developing new techniques and applying them in exciting new settings. You will have the ability to work on a variety of problems from highly multiplexed neural recordings to single-cell genomics to complex genetic screens
- so experience with topics such as dimensionality reduction
- batch effects
- statistical testing
- and time series analysis is desired. You will have a minimum five years experience analyzing multi-modal or high-dimensional datasets
- and a demonstrated ability to develop novel analysis methods or to adapt techniques from one field to problems in another. Most importantly
- you will have the curiosity to dive into vastly different datasets and work with our experimentalists to make the most of their results.
