About
Two-year researcher contract at the Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR, UMR 6226) within the ERC project BRUNCH, which is developing a new theoretical and methodological toolbox in relativistic quantum chemistry to compute magnetic properties of f-element complexes. The researcher will explore the potential of relativistic density functional theory for excited states of f-element complexes using orbital-optimised (ΔSCF-type) approaches.
Activities include developing new formalisms in relativistic quantum chemistry, implementing them in an open-source/open-access Python development platform, applying them to model systems, co-supervising research interns, and disseminating results through publications and conferences. Start date 1 February 2027; gross monthly salary €3,000–4,200 depending on experience.
Requirements
PhD in theoretical chemistry or theoretical physics (methodological development experience is an asset); solid knowledge of electronic-structure theory (DFT and wavefunction theory); strong Python and Unix/Linux experience; good scientific English.
