About
A doctoral position in Civil and Architectural Engineering at the KTH division of Concrete Structures, within SVC - Swedish Centre for Sustainable Hydropower. Concrete dams in Sweden average more than 50 years in age, and damage such as cracking, leaching and hard-to-detect reinforcement corrosion becomes more common as they age. The project aims to understand the structural response of concrete dams in normal operation, decide what should be measured and where sensors should be placed, identify suitable sensor types and set reasonable alarm limits, in collaboration with senior KTH researchers, international researchers and industry.
Proposed supervisors: Andreas Sjölander, Anders Ansell and Erik Nordström. Start 1 January 2027 or by agreement (reference PA-2026-3554).
