Norsk Regnesentral (the Norwegian Computing Center), an independent research institute at the Oslo Science Park at Blindern, is recruiting two permanent researchers in machine learning and artificial intelligence to its department for Statistical Modelling and Machine Learning, which has about 30 researchers. The work combines new methodological development with applied research for clients and partners, using tabular data, time series, network data, sensor measurements and language data in finance, insurance, technology, industry, health, marine, climate and environment.

Examples include risk models for banks and insurers, quantifying consequences of climate change and extreme weather, power-price forecasting, anomaly detection in time series, models for salmon-lice spread between fish farms, AI against algorithmic price collusion, and responsible and explainable AI. Norwegian is the department's main working language.

Master's or doctoral degree in machine learning or similar, deep subject understanding and ability to develop new methods; strong programming skills; Norwegian, or willingness to learn it relatively quickly.
