Flatiron Research Fellow, Center for Computational Quantum Physics

Conduct theoretical and computational research on equilibrium and nonequilibrium many-body quantum systems, with applications across condensed matter, materials, chemistry and quantum information. Fellows develop concepts, algorithms and open-source software, publish findings, participate in collaborative activities and mentor students. The initial appointment is generally two years, renewable for a third based on performance, with an anticipated start between late August and late November 2027.

The position is based at the foundation’s New York City offices; annual full-time compensation is $95,000, with benefits and possible subsidised housing. Applications are considered on a rolling basis until filled; 9 October 2026 is a full-consideration date, not a final closing date.

PhD in a relevant field; evidence of original theoretical or computational research and expertise in computational methods, algorithms, simulation or related areas. Submit a CV with publications, a research statement of no more than four pages and three recommendation letters.
