Flatiron Research Fellow, Center for Computational Neuroscience

Computational Neuroscience, Machine Learning, Statistics and full-time postdoctoral research fellowship (two years / generally renewed for a third) at Flatiron Institute, Simons Foundation

Deadline not stated
New York, United States · On-site

About

Postdoctoral Flatiron Research Fellowships (FRFs) at the Center for Computational Neuroscience (CCN), which develops theories, models and computational methods for brain function through a vertically integrated systems neuroscience approach. Fellows affiliate with a primary PI from one of six groups: neural circuits and algorithms (Dmitri Chklovskii), high-dimensional dynamics and computation (David Clark), building biological intelligence (John Pearson), computational vision (Eero Simoncelli), information processing in biological networks and AI (Yuhai Tu), and statistical analysis of neural data (Alex Williams).

Fellows may spend up to 30% of their time with other collaborators inside or outside Flatiron. Appointments last two years and are generally renewed for a third year, contingent on performance, and include a research budget and access to Flatiron scientific computing; subsidised housing may be available. Full-time annual compensation is USD 95,000. The application deadline is rolling.

Topics

Requirements

PhD in computational neuroscience or a relevant technical field such as electrical engineering, machine learning, statistics, physics or applied mathematics, granted before the appointment starts. Preferred: strong quantitative skills, a strong interest in the scientific study of the brain, and demonstrated abilities in analytical calculation, software and algorithm development, modelling or simulation. Materials: CV with publications; a cover letter naming at least one CCN research group (with a joint topic if interested in several); a research statement of at most three pages; at least two recommendation letters.
