Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description
Develop mechanical components and prototype instruments for life-science research in EMBL's Scientific Instrumentation Workshops. The role covers CAD design, simulation, manufacture, assembly, testing and collaboration with researchers and technical teams. This is a full-time campus-based position in Heidelberg, initially for three years, with possible renewal up to nine years. The live role page gives 18 September 2026 as the application deadline.
Requirements
- Relevant mechanical-engineering qualification or equivalent experience
- CAD and simulation skills
- prototype design and testing experience
- knowledge of manufacturing and materials
- English communication skills.
