About

Four-month postdoctoral contract at the Station d’Écologie Théorique et Expérimentale (SETE) in Moulis to help build a theory of ecological scaling, across space and across levels of biological complexity. Work involves developing analytical theory and/or simulation models of the spatial scaling of species interaction networks or of biodiversity–ecosystem functioning relationships, and linking metacommunity theory with ecological network theory.

The position is part of the Horizon Europe project BIOcean5D on marine biodiversity and ecosystem functioning across spatial, temporal and human scales, which brings together more than 30 partners in 11 countries to understand the principles governing the structure, dynamics, resilience and evolution of marine life and to develop predictive models of biodiversity–ecosystem function relationships. Start date 4 January 2027; gross monthly salary €3,041.58–4,216.70 depending on experience.

Requirements

Strong theoretical training with expertise in ecological and evolutionary theory, mathematics or physics; good command of English.
