About
Nine-month postdoctoral position at the Laboratoire d’Écologie Alpine (LECA) in Grenoble on how vegetation history influences the recent rise of the upper forest limit in the Alps and the Pyrenees. The overall aim is to better understand what drives the upward shift of the treeline over recent decades, accounting for legacy effects and the characteristics of the sites being colonised, through two objectives each intended to lead to a publication.
The first evaluates legacy effects on recent treeline dynamics by completing and publishing work begun in N. Delpouve’s thesis, relating treeline trajectories since 1850 to recent dynamics observed by remote sensing, with attention to the legacy of ancient forests and to land-use changes following the Industrial Revolution. The second evaluates how shrub cover at the treeline influences the kinetics of forest colonisation, notably its speed and spatial extent.
Start date 1 February 2027; gross monthly salary from €3,041 depending on experience and the CNRS pay scale.
