Postdoctoral Position in Fungal Cell Biology or Biochemistry / Structural Biology of Starship Transposons
Cell Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry and postdoctoral researcher position at ETH Zurich
About
Study how giant Starship transposons mobilize and carry virulence genes in plant-pathogenic fungi. The project offers either a cell-biology track investigating transposon movement in living fungal cells or a biochemical and structural track reconstituting and characterizing the responsible proteins. The postdoc collaborates with a complementary genomics researcher and contributes mechanistic experiments, publications and development of an independent research profile. Review begins 31 October 2026 and continues until a suitable candidate is found.
Topics
- Starship transposons
- virulence genes
- plant-pathogenic fungi
- fungal cells
- transposon movement
- mechanistic experiments
Requirements
Relevant doctorate and experience in fungal cell biology or biochemistry and structural biology.
