Postdoctoral Research Associate- Thermal Energy Storage Group

Research thermal energy storage and building equipment in ORNL’s Thermal Energy Storage Group. Design experimental systems and campaigns, perform thermofluid analysis, and investigate sorption systems, compressors, heat exchangers and HVAC technologies. Develop system-level models, publish findings and contribute to multidisciplinary research and proposals. The appointment is up to 24 months, with potential extension subject to performance and funding. Federal identification and access requirements apply; the application requires two reference letters.

PhD in mechanical engineering completed within the last five years and laboratory/experimental experience. Experience with thermal-fluid systems, instrumentation, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, and HVAC is preferred.
