About

The UW Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center seek a postdoctoral researcher for an NIH-funded project on the development of binaural hearing. The project collects neural (EEG) and behavioural measures of binaural processing, including interaural time and level differences and spatial release from masking, in typically hearing and hard-of-hearing infants and children, and integrates them in multimodal predictive models of individual differences in speech-in-noise performance.

The long-term goal is objective assessments that identify listening difficulty earlier, hearing technologies that improve listening in noise and personalised treatments. The full-time appointment is initially one year, renewable, with an anticipated start of 1 December 2026 or later and a base salary of $5,705 per month.

Requirements

PhD or foreign equivalent in neuroscience, speech and hearing sciences, engineering or a related field; expertise in EEG acquisition, signal processing and analysis; programming proficiency; machine-learning experience, especially with EEG; auditory research experience (hearing aids, binaural hearing) is desirable. Submit a cover letter, CV, two representative publications and three references via Interfolio.
