Job Description
Understanding the neuronal basis of the learning and execution of complex motor skills
The Wolff Lab at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore has an opening for a postdoc. We study the learning and execution of complex motor skills on the behavioral and neuronal level in rodents. Our approach focuses on high-throughput behavioral training and continuous long-term electrophysiological recordings, combined with acute and chronic manipulations of neuronal activity and computational modeling of our large datasets. We seek to understand how complex motor skills develop throughout training, which factors influence learning and how individual neuronal elements in the distributed motor network, from the basal ganglia to cortex and thalamus, are involved and interact in learning, storing and executing these skills.

Requirements
- Candidates should have earned a PhD degree (or equivalent) in neuroscience
- biomedical engineering
- biology
- physics
- computer science or a related field. The ideal candidate preferably has experience in rodent behavior
- electrophysiology and/or analysis of large datasets.
