About
Develop an uncertainty-aware digital twin and AI control architecture for protein-guided, droplet-based manufacturing of functional materials. The programme combines protein and formulation descriptors, physics-informed process models, inline measurements and process–structure–property learning. Applications include rare-earth-free magnets and nanoporous battery electrodes. Responsibilities include efficient experiment selection, drift diagnosis, parameter correction and collaboration across seven research groups.
Funding is available until 31 December 2027 in the first instance, subject to the stated project contract negotiations. Salary ranges are £33,002–£35,608 at Research Assistant level and £37,694–£46,049 at Research Associate level. Apply with a CV and covering letter by 21 October 2026.
Requirements
A completed or nearly completed PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline; machine learning or statistical modelling of physical systems, model validation, scientific programming and collaborative research experience. Associate appointment requires an awarded PhD. UK right-to-work requirements apply.
