University assistant predoctoral: geometry and topology of moduli spaces (Mellit group)

Doctoral position in Prof. Anton Mellit's group at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Mathematics. The group studies the geometry and topology of moduli spaces and their connections with representation theory, algebraic combinatorics and knot invariants. The candidate develops their own results within the group, concludes a dissertation agreement within 12–18 months, becomes a member of the Vienna School of Mathematics, takes part in international collaborations, conferences and workshops, and teaches and co-supervises students.

The 30-hour-per-week contract runs for 4 years from 1 December 2026 or later, with a basic salary of EUR 3,776.10 on a full-time basis (14 times a year).

Master's degree in mathematics or a related field, certified before the contract starts; emphasis in moduli-space geometry and topology, representation theory, algebraic combinatorics or knot invariants; strong mathematical background and potential for independent research; excellent English.
