Vice President for Science

New senior scientific leadership position at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, an independent ecological research institution in Millbrook, New York. The Vice President for Science will build and expand shared laboratory, analytical, computational, information and data-management resources for the institute's science; work with scientists to catalyse larger-scale research initiatives and align them with public and private funding; line-manage the 14 core scientists and chair the staff review committee for reappointment and promotion; and steward internal grants and convening programmes, including the Science Innovation Funds, Visiting Scientist Program, Cary Fellows and the Cary Conference series.

The VP serves on the Executive Management Team; limited research consistent with these responsibilities will be considered.

Fifteen years of experience in ecology, ecosystem science or a related field; demonstrated experience developing and managing research support across laboratories or collaborative networks; leadership, staff management, grant writing and fundraising experience. A PhD in ecology, ecosystem science or a related field is preferred.
