Black hole physics

Astronomy, Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics and seminar by Eric Gourgoulhon, Obs-Paris

Hosted by Collège de France

Monday 17:45–18:45 Paris (GMT+1)

Recording available

Amphithéâtre Marguerite-de-Navarre, Site Marcelin-Berthelot · In person

Abstract

Eric Gourgoulhon introduces black holes within general relativity and reviews their defining physical properties. The seminar then compares electromagnetic observations, including images near black-hole boundaries, with gravitational-wave measurements of their dynamics. Together, these approaches create new tests of relativistic gravity.
