Development of 4D Silicon Tracking Detectors for Future Collider Experiments
Particle Physics seminar by Koji Nakamura, KEK
Wednesday 14:00 Vancouver (GMT-7)
Starts in 3 days
Abstract
Future high-energy and high-intensity colliders place demanding requirements on track reconstruction and particle identification. Adding precision timing to spatial measurements can separate overlapping collisions, improve identification and enable searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. This seminar reviews the motivation for four-dimensional silicon tracking with spatial resolutions around ten micrometres and timing resolutions around ten picoseconds. It presents capacitively coupled low-gain avalanche diode developments, including pixel prototypes developed at KEK with Hamamatsu, and discusses timing performance, radiation tolerance, sensor design, readout electronics and the challenges of scaling these detectors to larger areas.
