Abstract

A large cosmological constant need not have the same observable consequences in a highly inhomogeneous spacetime as in a homogeneous model. This seminar explores rapidly expanding and contracting regions at Planck scales and the difficulty posed by classical singularities. A spherical quantum model is used to investigate whether states can remain for long periods with small average expansion.
