Abstract

Defining observables for part of a gravitational system requires careful treatment of horizon boundaries and their edge modes. This seminar constructs extended phase spaces and associated boost and translation charges, then quantizes around a black-hole background. The resulting operator algebras connect horizon entropy with a generalized second law and perturbative quantum focusing.
