AVS 72nd International Symposium & Exhibition
Pittsburgh, United States
The AVS symposium connects atomic-scale processing, characterisation, measurement and simulation with the behaviour of materials, surfaces, interfaces and devices. Its programme spans thin films, plasma processes, microelectronics, quantum technologies, two-dimensional materials, biomaterials and vacuum engineering. It links fundamental investigations with manufacturing, including semiconductor scaling, heterogeneous integration, autonomous experimentation and more resource-efficient production. Technical talks, posters, tutorials and an equipment exhibition support exchange between academic, industrial and government researchers. All programme times are America/New_York (EST, UTC−5). Sunday technical sessions run 15:00–19:00 on 8 November. The Monday plenary is 08:30–10:00; Tuesday–Thursday morning sessions start at 08:00, and Friday sessions run 08:15–12:00. Attendance is in person. Current full-week fees are USD 915 for Platinum members and USD 1,265 for non-members; student rates are USD 310 and USD 465. Day registration is also available; tutorials require an additional fee. Online registration remains available throughout the meeting, with badge collection at the venue.

Royce/CCP9 Science at the Interface: Computational Modelling of 2D Materials, Thin Films and Surfaces
Manchester, United Kingdom
This research conference examines how to model physical interactions at flat interfaces in two-dimensional materials, thin films and metal surfaces. It addresses lattice mismatch and moiré systems, machine-learning interatomic potentials, and prediction of vibrational and electronic properties. Invited talks, short presentations and a panel connect scalable atomistic methods to materials discovery and composition optimization, including applications in carbon capture, alternatives to persistent chemicals and solar-energy materials. Researchers from academia and industry will discuss common accuracy and computational challenges. Friday 13 November 2026, 09:00–17:00 GMT (Europe/London); welcome at 09:40 and invited talks from 10:00. Attendance is free, with limited places and advance registration.

2026 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit
Boston, United States
The Fall Meeting connects materials synthesis, structure and properties with applications in energy, electronics, quantum technologies and medicine. Its symposia combine in situ electron microscopy, ultrafast measurements, diffraction, spectroscopy and computational modelling to study dynamic processes, defects and interfaces. Research tracks examine batteries and sustainable chemical conversion, semiconductor and photonic devices, quantum matter, nanoscale assembly, soft bioelectronics, regenerative biomaterials, and structural materials for extreme environments. AI-assisted design and autonomous experiments are addressed alongside experimental characterization and manufacturing. The plenary examines recovery of critical elements from urban waste streams and decarbonization of metal production. The meeting takes place on 29 November–4 December 2026 in Eastern Time (America/New_York, UTC−05:00). Sunday tutorials run 08:30–17:00; Monday's plenary is 08:15–09:30. Symposia run through the week, ending Friday at 13:00. All sessions and presentations are in person. Registration requires an MRS account. Until 29 October at 23:59 ET, general registration is US$1,240, or US$1,085 with the member discount; student rates are US$380 or US$335. Higher rates begin on 30 October. Breaking News abstract submissions closed on 16 September.

Superconductivity
Les Diablerets, Switzerland
The conference examines superconductivity where spontaneous symmetry breaking meets nontrivial topology. Sessions consider two-dimensional systems, unconventional pairing in bulk quantum materials, new experimental probes and theoretical approaches. Researchers will compare these perspectives to understand how different orders and topological properties shape superconducting behaviour, using unpublished research presentations and extended discussion to connect observations with models. Attendance applications are reviewed and capacity may fill before the application deadline.

Topological and Correlated Matter
Barcelona, Spain
The conference investigates electronic phases created by the interplay of topology, interactions and symmetry. It brings materials synthesis and engineering together with experimental probes of quantum geometry and theoretical treatments of narrow bands, flat bands and associated correlated states. Researchers will compare approaches to tunable electronic structures and discuss unexplored routes to new quantum materials and collective phenomena. Attendance requires a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or an accepted equivalent. Applications are subject to selection and available capacity.

Spin Dynamics in Nanostructures
Vaud (fr), Switzerland
The meeting examines angular-momentum transfer and dynamics in emerging magnetic systems. Alongside electron-based spin transport, it considers magnons, phonons and photons as carriers for information processing. Topics include altermagnets, low-dimensional structures, complex magnetic textures and chiral materials, with attention to how symmetry and geometry produce new phenomena. Discussion connects these mechanisms with possible alternatives to charge-based electronic technologies. Attendance requires a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or an accepted equivalent. Applications are subject to selection and available capacity.
