IMPRS-CMS in Stuttgart is accepting applications for multiple fully funded doctoral positions across quantum materials, electronic structure and many-body theory, nanoscience, solid-state spectroscopy, solid-state ionics and batteries, bioinspired materials, quantum and organic electronics, and ultracold atomic gases. The English-language programme provides structured training, individual supervision and co-supervision, mentoring, research infrastructure and additional support for scientific meetings and training. The current call remains open through 30 September 2026.

The University of São Paulo's Terahertz Science, Technology and Innovation Group seeks a postdoctoral researcher to study low-energy collective excitations in quantum materials with terahertz spectroscopy. The project provides access to magneto-spectroscopy under intense magnetic fields and low temperatures and combines experimental infrastructure with national and international collaborations.

NIMS is recruiting several permanent researchers for fundamental, foundational and applied materials research. Priority areas include hydrogen and battery materials, quantum and semiconductor materials, magnetic and structural materials, inorganic nanomaterials, polymers and biomaterials, data-driven materials development and advanced characterization. The appointment is expected to begin on 1 April 2027, subject to discussion.

Recent changes

Conduct fundamental research on soft magnetic materials in the Green Magnetic Materials Group, NIMS Research Center for Magnetic and Spintronic Materials. Develop rapidly solidified ribbons and bulk materials with varied compositions and microstructures, and evaluate their magnetic behavior. One position, with a negotiable January 2027 start. Initial term one year, renewable after annual review up to five years. Published monthly salary is JPY 345,425–493,012. Applications remain open until the position is filled. The official role page provides an active Box upload route for a ZIP containing the NIMS CV with photo, a one-page research summary and two main papers; selection includes document review and an interview.

Develop superconducting materials and wires through synthesis, wire fabrication and characterization, and superconducting joint technologies. Materials and process design use thermodynamic quantities including Gibbs energy and chemical potential, supported by AI and machine learning. One position with the Advanced Superconducting Wire Group at NIMS; start 1 November 2026 or later. Initial appointment one year, renewable after annual review up to five years. Published monthly salary is JPY 325,360–493,012 according to experience. Applications remain open until a qualified candidate is found. Submit a single ZIP through the Box upload link on the official role page, containing the NIMS CV with photograph, a one-page research summary, achievement list, contact details of two referees and two main publications.
