BBSRC standard research grant: applicant-led mode

Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (UKRI)

Supports investigator-led biotechnology and biological research, from molecules and cells to organisms, populations and landscapes. Projects may include data-intensive research, technology development, equipment, shared facilities, community resources, networks or summer schools. Awards last up to five years. The maximum full economic project cost is £2 million; BBSRC contributes 80%, normally up to £1.6 million. Overseas and business collaborators may participate as project partners, but cannot lead. Uninvited resubmissions are not accepted.

BBSRC supports short international visits to establish collaborations, prepare joint proposals, access facilities or attend European consortium-building events. Visits may last up to one month. The project lead applies through the host research office and must submit at least eight weeks before travel. Funding covers travel and subsistence rather than a research project budget.
