Investigate how animal communication shapes coordinated movement and collective behaviour in the Communication and Collective Movement group. Quantitative research combines tracking-collar and passive-acoustic data with computational analysis and, where appropriate, modelling. The fully funded doctorate is based in Konstanz for four years, with a flexible start in summer or autumn 2027, through the IMPRS Quantitative Behaviour, Ecology and Evolution programme.

Research Scientist — Biofunctional Catalyst Research Team (26-1150)
Deadline not stated
RIKEN seeks a research scientist in Ryuhei Nakamura’s Biofunctional Catalyst Research Team to advance water-electrolysis systems for green-hydrogen production. Research may focus on non-precious-metal oxygen-evolution catalysts, in-situ spectroscopy of reaction and degradation mechanisms, or computational analysis. The project is scheduled through March 2028. The position is based in Wako and requires independent research and collaboration. Recruitment is explicitly open until filled; the vacancy provides the application-upload route and submission instructions.

The distribution of pathological tau in the brain of patients with AD is highly predicable, and as disease worsens, it spreads transynaptically from initial regions of vulnerability. The reason why only some neurons are vulnerable to the accumulation and propagation of pathological forms of tau, and the mechanisms by which tauopathy spreads through the brain are not well understood. Using a combination of immunohistochemistry and computational analysis we have examined pathway differences between vulnerable and resistant neurons. How tau spreads across a synapse has been examined in vitro usin
