Variability is a universal feature among biological units such as neuronal cells as they enable a robust encoding of a high volume of information in neuronal circuits and prevent hypersynchronizations such as epileptic seizures. While most computational studies on electrophysiological variability in neuronal circuits were done with simplified neuron models, we focus on the variability of detailed biophysical models of neurons. Using measures of experimental variability, we leverage a Markov chain Monte Carlo method to generate populations of electrical models that can reproduce the variability

Although dendritic signaling strongly influences sensory processing and learning, the connection between dendritic integration and somatic output is still not fully understood. Our aim is maping the origins of dendritic events during different aspects of visual learning. We used 3D two-photon laser scanning microscopy with acousto-optic deflectors to simultaneously record jRGECO1a (calcium) and JEDI-2p (voltage) signals in the apical dendrites of layer 5 pyramidal cells in the primary visual cortex of mice during visual discrimination. We examined mice with controlled water access participating

Perisynaptic astrocytic processes (PAPs) in excitatory tripartite synapses play an important role for the synaptic transmission through glutamate clearance, ions homeostasis, and synapse isolation. Here, we analyzed the proximity of PAPs to the synaptic interface at spines on the tuft dendritic branches of layer 5 pyramidal cells in the mouse primary motor cortex (M1) during a skillful motor seed reaching task (Sohn et al., 2022. Science Advances, eabm0531). Mice were trained daily for this task and in vivo imaging was conducted on days 0, 4, and 8. The animals were perfused after day 8 and ti
