O2L-001, an innovative thrombolytic to evacuate intracerebral haematoma

Audrey Thiebaut, Estelle Louet, Mélina Ianszen, Marie-Julie Guichard, Daniel Hanley, Christophe Gaudin, Jerome Parcq · FENS Forum 2024

Intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) is an unmet medical need leading to the formation of an intracerebral haematoma. Updated guidelines for the management of ICH patients recognize that minimally invasive approaches for evacuation of hematoma open a new area for treatment. Here we demonstrated that O2L-001 allowing the extended-release of a new rtPA variant named OptPA, offers an improved efficacy for haematoma evacuation as well as the best safety.OptPA was produced in CHO cell line before purification, nanoprecipitation using the NANOp2Lysis® technological platform followed by suspension in a so

Polymeric nanoparticles for targeted cancer therapy

Letizia Cerutti, Paolo Canepa, Paolo Massobrio, Martina Brofiga · FENS Forum 2024

Cancer remains a significant challenge in the medical field (Siegel et al., 2012). Conventional treatments frequently have serious side effects that lower patients' quality of life and cannot totally eradicate the disease (Hendijani, 2015). Additionally, neural progenitor cells might be adversely affected by chemotherapeutic drugs, extinguishing any possibility of nervous tissue regeneration (Dietrich et al., 2006). This emphasizes the importance of precisely targeting cancer cells while preserving healthy brain cells. This work aims at addressing this challenge through the development of poly
