Dendrites play a fundamental role in neuronal computation. It is thought that functionally defined regions of dendritic branches, termed ‘dendritic computational units’ are used to decode information transmitted by synaptic input. This information is encoded by the corresponding dendritic output, to perform complex neuronal computations. To investigate dendric input-output in vivo, it is necessary to record synaptic input and dendritic output simultaneously. To do this we perform simultaneous glutamate imaging and voltage imaging from the spiny dendrites of single Purkinje neurons in awake mic

Understanding dendritic integration in relation to its excitatory and inhibitory inputs is critical to deciphering neuronal data processing. Upon sensorimotor stimulus, the cerebellar Purkinje neuron (PN) receives excitatory inputs from a single climbing fiber (CF), thousands of parallel fibers (PFs), and feed-forward inhibitory inputs (FFI) from molecular layer interneurons (MLIs). This study aims to understand the dendritic interplay of MLI inhibitory inputs, shaping excitatory inputs upon air puff stimulation in awake mice.We labeled MLI axons with GCaMP6 and PN with the voltage-sensitive d

The cerebellum is involved in motor coordination and is divided into anatomo-functional modules processing sensorimotor information from a given body part. This information is conveyed by mossy fibers to granule cells (GC) contacting Purkinje cells (PC) belonging to different modules via their long axons, the parallel fibers (PFs). PFs underlie inter-modular communication, which may be at the core of motor coordination. Therefore, the main goal of our research is to understand how intermodular communication in the cerebellar cortex underlies motor adaptation.Using patterned light photostimulat
