Cardiac vagal motor drive originates in the brainstem's cardiac vagal motor neurons (CVNs). Despite well-established cardioinhibitory functions in health, our understanding of CVNs in disease is limited. There is a clear connection of cardiovascular regulation with metabolic and energy expenditure systems.
