Topic: quantum foundations

This Perimeter Institute conference brings together researchers studying quantum reference frames, quantum gravity, quantum foundations and related experiments. Topics include relational observables, quantum information in dynamical spacetime, locality, causality, entanglement, and the operational meaning of observers and subsystems. Postdoctoral fellowships for recent PhDs pursuing independent research in fundamental theoretical physics. Areas include quantum matter, cosmology, quantum fields and strings, mathematical physics, quantum foundations, gravity, quantum information and particle physics, including intersections with AI. Fellows receive research and travel support, health coverage and mentoring; some appointments may be shared with partner institutions. Starting annual salary is CAD 79,000. Review begins on 6 November 2026 and applications continue until positions are filled.

Kenneth Wharton of San Jose State University discusses local weak values in quantum circuits and whether they support a covariant description of individual qubits. The talk considers entanglement, constraints across an entire circuit and the relationship between quantum systems and classical spacetime.
