NERC supports urgent environmental research following an unexpected natural event when critical early data would otherwise be lost. Examples include exceptional floods, earthquakes and other unpredictable environmental changes; planned, seasonal or operational monitoring activities are outside scope. Applications are accepted at any time. Submit an outline within four weeks of the event starting, with evidence of that date; if invited, the full proposal is due within ten working days. Projects may last up to one year and have a full economic cost up to £100,000, normally funded at 80% by NERC.
