Previous evidence found adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is usually accompanied with inhibitory control deficits. The underlying mechanism might partially due to brain physiology. Therefore, the pilot study aims to explore the relationship between cortical excitability and inhibitory control performance in adolescents with ADHD. The study recruited 7 adolescents with ADHD aged 13-17 years old. All participants were assessed by inhibitory control (stop signal task) and cortical excitability via transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). For cortical excitability, M

Reward expectation modulates neuronal dynamics and network organization in premotor cortex

Several studies highlight motivation's crucial role in motor decision-making for maximizing potential rewards. However, how explicit rewards impact the neural dynamics of decision-making processes and their effects on neural organization at the network level, is still unexplored. To address this gap, we analyzed neuronal activity recorded from the premotor cortex (PMd) of three monkeys while performing a modified version of the stop signal task. In this task, the motivation to either act or inhibit action was manipulated using Cues that informed about different reward contexts. We conducted an
