Workshop
Combinatorics and Complexity in Schubert Calculus
Leonardo Mihalcea, Colleen Robichaux, Frank Sottile and 1 more
About
Schubert calculus computes intersection multiplicities of Schubert varieties in the complete flag variety; motivated by Hilbert's 15th problem, its foundations were built on cohomology theory and later extended with ring-theoretic and combinatorial tools and generalised to equivariant cohomology, K-theory and their quantum versions. This Simons Center for Geometry and Physics workshop aims to understand the fundamental combinatorial and algebraic structure of these geometric problems and their computational complexity, bringing together geometry, algebraic combinatorics and computational complexity to make progress on the combinatorial and complexity-theoretic nature of the structure constants. Participation is by application.
