Unlocking the functional diversity of gut microbiomes
Microbiology and Genomics conference by European Molecular Biology Laboratory
About
Gut microbiome research needs causal explanations of microbial effects on health, beyond descriptive associations. This conference examines poorly understood microbial genes and the model organisms, genetic tools and collaborative approaches needed to assign their functions. Sessions cover data-driven discovery, genetic perturbation, multi-omics, cellular organisation, imaging protein machines, ecological interactions with hosts and phages, and connections to other microbiomes. The aim is to connect molecular mechanisms with microbiome engineering and health applications.
The programme uses Europe/Berlin time (CET, UTC+1): opening remarks on 8 December at 13:00, first talk at 13:15; sessions on 9 and 10 December start at 09:00. The final roundtable ends at 19:30 on 10 December. On-site and virtual attendance are offered. On-site fees are EUR 760 for academia, EUR 660 for PhD students and EUR 960 for industry; virtual fees are EUR 240, EUR 190 and EUR 290 respectively. On-site registration closes 27 October; virtual registration closes 1 December. An EMBL registration account and payment are required.
