The program integrates theoretical and practical training across both universities, with contributions from internationally recognized Swiss and European lecturers. Its objectives focus on three pillars: (i) mastering classical and clinical neuroscience concepts, (ii) developing a broad perspective on the evolving neuroscience landscape, and (iii) acquiring skills to address emerging demands, including digitalization and ethical use of technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Core training includes the annual BENEFRI Neuroscience Workshops, emphasizing active student engagement through presentations and posters, hands-on workshops in cutting-edge experimental and analytical methods, and a biweekly lecture series featuring experts in molecular, cellular, systems, clinical, and computational neuroscience.
A diverse portfolio of optional courses—from neurophysiology and neuroanatomy to scientific writing and emerging research topics—allows students to tailor their training to individual interests and research goals.
Overall, the program delivers a rigorous, flexible, and forward-looking doctoral education, fostering scientific excellence, interdisciplinarity, and innovation.
