Abstract

The Institute for Protein Innovation (IPI) is a non-profit research organization dedicated to advancing protein science. The Institute is currently developing recombinant antibody panels targeting the human and mouse neuronal cell surfaceome. More specifically, IPI is building antibody collections that target cell surface receptors and ligands involved in synaptic cleft signaling, axon guidance and glial cell phenotyping. Our strategy is to target entire receptor-ligand families, in part to eliminate cross-family interactions and ensure antibody selectivity. Each IPI antibody is evaluated for binding kinetics, potency, specificity and aggregation, and formulated as a chimeric human/rabbit antibody. IPI antibodies are validated both internally and through a unique community crowdsourced model. Overall, IPI is addressing unmet needs in the molecular neuroscience domain by generating a reliable set of protein binding reagents to support studies in synaptic transmission, axon guidance, neuronal migration and the molecular characterization of synapse types.
