This study investigates the IR and the IGF1R from hypothalamic astrocytes in the regulation of metabolism. The work was performed using a murine model, the IR and IGF1R inducible double knock out in Glast-expressing astrocytes of male mice. These animals were exposed to chow, 5 or 15 days of high fat diet.
Through molecular and histological techniques, our results show that the action of both receptors is necessary to increase the body weight in response to high fat diet and the deletion of both receptors produces a tendency to increase the lipid accumulation.
