A personal award recognising brain research alongside contributions to mentorship, equity, diversity and inclusion. The recipient will present a Special Lecture at the FENS Forum in July 2028. The nomination package includes a CV, proposed lecture, personal statement, outreach and inclusion activities, and an endorsement letter. The application form specifies 14 October 2026 at 17:00 CET.

Covers: EUR 3,000 personal prize. FENS also specifies a Forum registration waiver and EUR 1,300 contribution towards travel and accommodation.

Current research institution must be in an underrepresented country. France, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States are excluded.

Nationality or residence: Any origin; eligibility depends on country of work, not nationality.

Active PhD- or MD-qualified scientists of any origin who have led their own laboratory for at least five years and work in a country underrepresented in neuroscience. Applicants working in France, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States are ineligible. Self-nomination and nomination by another neuroscientist are accepted. Current ALBA Board and Awards working group members are excluded.
