About
Recognises outstanding research across disciplines and supports collaboration with colleagues in Germany. Awardees may undertake research visits totalling six to twelve months, divided into multiple stays. Nominations can be submitted at any time; selection normally occurs in March and October.
Eligibility
Career stage: Established researcher
Nomination required
Covers: EUR 80,000 research award, with a possible six-to-twelve-month research stay in Germany.
Host location: Germany
Research stay in Germany; prior residence and employment must be predominantly abroad.
Nationality or residence: German citizens can qualify after the required period of academic work abroad.

Internationally leading researchers with an influential record; predominantly living and working outside Germany for at least five years. No previous Humboldt academic award and no permanent German employment at selection. Established researchers in Germany nominate; no self-nominations.
