About
Fund short applied-research projects that improve preparedness, monitoring, response, environmental effects or mitigation of accidental marine spills. The 2027 call gives special consideration to emerging fuels, hazardous cargo, fisheries and mariculture, environmental recovery, and AI or autonomous spill-response technologies. Projects need a clear route to practical benefit. Applications close on 4 December 2026.
Eligibility
Covers: Up to GBP 70,000 over one to two years, including research costs, staff costs and overheads, and travel. No doctoral funding route in this edition.
Reputable research and development establishments or other organisations worldwide proposing a relevant short-term applied-research project. The 2027 competition funds projects only; the PhD funding route resumes with the 2028 award.
