About
This Swedish nomination call supports cooperative research with a Japanese host for 1–12 months. Fellowships start between 1 July 2027 and 31 March 2028. Applicants submit to JSPS Stockholm for nomination by STINT and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The call closes on 30 November 2026.
Eligibility
Covers: Round-trip travel; monthly maintenance of JPY362,000 for PhD holders or JPY200,000 for others; JPY200,000 settling-in support for stays of at least three months; research support up to JPY70,000 per month and overseas travel insurance.
Research takes place at a Japanese university or eligible research institution.
Nationality or residence: Swedish citizenship or permanent residence is required for this nomination route.
Swedish citizens or permanent residents who received a doctorate within the past six years, or doctoral students expecting the degree within two years, may apply through this route. A host researcher at an eligible Japanese university or research institution is required. All academic fields are eligible.
